Slang: A variety of familiar and colloquial speech, often new, picturesque, and striking, sometimes even vulgar, not yet fully recognized and accepted by the community as a permanent part of the common language. Examples: “buck” – “dollar”, “gimme” – “give (it to) me”, “black maria – police van”
