Definition of paschen series
Paschen series - The series of lines in the spectrum of the hydrogen atom which corresponds to transitions between the state with principal quantum number n = 3 and successive higher states. The wavelengths are given by 1/X = RH(1/9-1/n2), where n = 4,5,6,... and RH is the Rydberg constant. The first member of the series (n = 3<->4), which is often called the Pa line, falls in the infrared at a wavelength of 1.875 \m.
