Definition of leonard
Leonard-Jones potential - A simple but useful function for approximating the interaction between two neutral atoms or molecules separated by a distance r by writing the potential energy as U(r) = 4e{(r0/r)12 - (r0/r)6}, where e and r0 are adjustable parameters. In this form the depth of the potential well is e and the minimum occurs at 21/6r0 . The (1/r)12 term is often replaced by other powers of 1/r.
