Definition of monetary policy

 

Monetary policy is the use of changes in the supply of money and interest rates to achieve economic policy targets. Monetary policy can either be expansionary (reducing interest rates) to boost the economy or deflationary (increasing interest rates) to lower the rate of economic growth.
