Definition of health and safety

 

Health and safety is the process of ensuring that the working environment within a firm is both a healthy and a safe one. This will include looking at a wide range of factors including for example, the safety of the substances being used, the temperatures employees have to work in, the procedures used in production, the protection offered when using potentially dangerous equipment and so on. There is extensive legislation to ensure that companies meet required health and safety standards.
