Definition of euro

 

The Euro is the single European Currency which was adopted by 11 countries in the European Union. The full changeover and the introduction of Euro notes and coins took place on January 1st 2002. European Central Bank (ECB) The ECB is the bank that sets monetary policy for the Euro area. Each of the countries taking part in the single currency has representation on the Euro Governing Council. They meet twice a month to set monetary policy. The ECB is based in Frankfurt.
