Definition of contract of employment

 

A contract of employment is a written legal document setting out the terms and conditions of employment. It is agreed between an employee and an employer and will show things like the job title, the rate of pay, the procedures for any grievances, the period of notice that needs to be given, sickness benefit entitlements and so on.
